We are happy to inform you that from next week onwards, Econopolis will manage a second UCITS fund promoted by Landbouwkrediet and named “Crelan EconoNext”. For this, we target emerging economies and next generation companies. And we go East & West, North & South. For more information, visit

In order to celebrate this event, we have already uncorked some kidibuls for grown ups aka bubblies. But we need some appropriate music to go along with it. This week’s jukebox elected the following winners :

1) We kick off with some Indy Brit Pop at the shop around the corner : Brimful of ashaaaa, with the most important message being “everybody needs a bosom for a pillow, mine’s on the 45″

2) Over now to some Latin American sound and we still like Brazilian Bossanova as an intermezzo. So we make a small pitstop in good old Antwerp with Think of One : Um Paleto, sei é sempre bon, diga que voce ta na fila, or, a nice costume is always a good pick.

3) We cross the ocean where we meet a Russian version of Iggy Pop or Boris Grebenshicov : plain Perestroika Rock, a real “wild child”.

4) Since all of our employees’ music choices should be addressed from time to time, I found it appropriate to scratch my colleague fund manager’s back, in this case Gino Delaere and his appetite for the Boss, Mr Bruce Springsteen. But I decided to prefer a cover of one of his early works, performed by a South African rock legend, ie Manfred Mann’s Earth Band :

Madman drummers bummers, Indians in the summer with a teenage diplomat

In the dumps with the mumps as the adolescent pumps his way into his hat

With a boulder on my shoulder, feelin’ kinda older,

I tripped the merry-go-round

With this very unpleasin’, sneezin’ and wheezin,

the calliope crashed to the ground

Some silicone sister with a manager mister told me I got what it takes

She said “I’ll turn you on sonny to something strong, play the song with the funky break”

And go-cart Mozart was checkin’ out the weather chart to see if it was safe outside

And little Early-Pearly came by in his curly-wurly and asked me if I needed a ride

To conclude : Mama always told me not to look into the eyes of the sun, but Mama…that’s where the fun is !!!

Oh yeah !

Cheers and have a nice weekend

After a quick prospectus-look, I read the fund aims at opportunities in emerging economies in the exotic East, South, …
Why not East West, Home’s Best ? Aren’t our politicians constantly telling us our economy is still emerging too ? (or did they pronounce “immerge” wrongly ?)
And isn’t our weather not exotic enough !?

    FV,

Home is were the heart is and mine isn’t here. And sure our economy is an emerging one.Isn’t that what moody’s said about the greek economy too?
I like the idea but I have trouble to find out in what the fund invests in.

Good point and depending indeed on some classic EM standards, a lot of former developed economies have similar EM features
I hope you read my comment yesterday on the pedrocchi initiative. I will mail you today/this weekend on the stance.
    Cheers

@Christof : hadn’t read your comment on Pedrocchi yet, but no problem at all ! Enjoy your weekend !

    @ FV

You take the emerging economies… and the submerged economies… and you get to a level of emerged economies as a whole

    Theo,

In the mood for some greek humor?

    ‘Belastingparadijzen nekten Griekenland’

LMAO when I read this :)

The Car Price Index is on the up.And zerohedge starts to agree with me.It’s stagflation not deflation.Yet another jobless boom and bust cycle.
